Pipkin’s Patch Childminding

196 Acre Road • Kingston-Upon-Thames • Surrey • KT2 6EU

Emma, Registered Childminder and Manager of Pipkin's and mother of three decided to change career and set up as a childminder after her eldest child attended a local nursery and most of that time was filled with concern and disappointment, more particular in terms of high staff turnover and unhealthy menus. The key drive for that change was a desire to provide a childcare option that exceeds expectations and meets the needs of busy parents.

When working with her assistant we can care for up to six under 3s a day in our small 'Just like Home' setting. Her assistants are also registered with Ofsted and DBS checked.

We have a wide variety of toys and equipment which have been carefully chosen to meet the different ages and stages of development and which encourage learning and are both challenging as well as promoting a positive image of diversity.

DAILY ROUTINES

We have a weekly schedule which includes walks in the park and by the river as well as trips to local attractions together with taking park in a weekly in-house music class.

We also have a safe and secure enclosed garden which the children have free flow access to at all times and which has a covered decking area so that children can explore the outdoors in all weather conditions. We incorporate lots of outdoor play in our day.

If you would like to know more about Pipkin's Patch and would like to arrange to meet the Team and have a tour of our setting we would be delighted to arrange that for you.

Please get in touch with us by giving us a call or filling out the enquiry form below.

WORKING WITH PARENTS

GET IN TOUCH

We work closely with parents through several channels of communication, from monthly newsletters and daily chats and diary sheets to progress reports in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.

We also keep you up to date on your child's development and journey with us through photographs, observational records and art work in their learning journey books.

We use contracts to ensure the contractual obligations of all parties concerned and issue you with a copy of our policies and procedures at the outset to avoid any misunderstandings.

LEARNING THROUGH PLAY

At Pipkin’s Patch we encourage children to be independent, confident and to develop and learn through play both structured and free.

Our day is structured to include an outing, outside play, free play, messy play, story and circle time and quiet / nap time. Children have full access to all the toys and equipment and are encouraged to select for themselves and tidy away afterwards.

A BIT ABOUT EMMA

Emma first opened her family home to the families of Kingston in 2006 after changing from her career as a Legal Secretary for an International Law Firm.  Before her career in the legal field Emma worked as an au-pair and a nanny in America.  Whilst living in America Emma gained a Certificate in Early Childhood Education and since becoming a Childminder has gained the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Home Based Childcare, the NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care Learning and Development and the Foundation Degree in Early Years Management and Leadership.

Emma has also attended several training courses run by the local Early Years Department and is committed to ongoing training for herself and her team to benefit the children in her care.

Emma is currently studying the Level 3 Early Years SENCO Programme.

We are extremely pro-active about healthy eating and living.

All meals at Pipkin’s Patch are home cooked and prepared from fresh organic ingredients. We only serve fresh fruit for snacks.

We prepare monthly menus which can be adapted to accommodate special dietary needs and allergies and the menu is changed periodically to offer variety and to incorporate special holidays and religious festivals.

We believe strongly in educating children about making healthy choices and children therefore play a role in helping to prepare some of the meals and snacks.

Here are what our parents have to say about the service we provide here at Pipkin's Patch:

“What we like most is the tremendous amount of effort that the staff at Pipkin's Patch make to ensure their facility is like a home from home; from the food to the regular outings everything is geared towards nurturing the children in a positive and caring environment.”

- Daniella and Mark, Parents of Adam

“Because there is only a small number of children Josh receives more one to one attention at Pipkin's than he would in a nursery.”

- Angela, Mum of Joshua

"We strongly believe that Pipkin’s Patch provides a loving and caring environment for our little boy. Pipkins’ relatively small size means he benefits from really being known by all the staff. We are truly grateful to Emma and all the team for providing a homely, happy and secure environment from which Cameron continues to thrive and develop."

- Charlie and Kieran, Parents of Cameron

“I like the homely environment Pipkin's provides. Emma is an excellent carer, organised and devoted and I feel she passes on this professionalism to her team.”

- Sara, Mum of Callum

“We chose Emma to care for our children as they got to stay in a home away from home environment but with all the structure and routine of what you might expect in a larger day care setting. They are simply more than childminders and that is why we have used their service firstly for our daughter and again for our son.”

- Yvonne and Paul, Parents of Lily and Daniel

Here is what Ofsted have to say about Pipkin's Patch:

“Children are happy and very confident within a secure setting.”

“Children’s care and learning is greatly enhanced by the exceptional quality of the organisation of the childminding provision.”

“Excellent relationships with parents and other professionals involved with the children contribute to a fully inclusive childminding setting, where all children are Valued.”

Children are making excellent progress towards the early learning goals as the childminder plans activities for children based on each child's previous achievements.”
